Störtebeker wows Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie

press release of 11/03/2016

The unique location at the river Elbe with direct view at the water fits perfectly in the concept of the Braumanufaktur.

After waiting for more than twelve years, the big day has finally come: On November 4th, Störtebeker Braumanufaktur will launch its new flagship location: gastronomic offerings at the Störtebeker Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, based in the Hanseatic city’s new landmark – accompanied by an unconventional approach to beer and fine dining.
Neither wine nor champagne take centre stage at one of the world’s most notable venues – instead, the spotlight is on beer. Whether it’s Störtebeker’s Atlantik-Ale, Baltik-Lager or Stark-Bier: guests can delve into the world of Störtebeker’s speciality beers in all sorts of ways across three floors.

The restaurant "Beer & Dine" on the 5th floor.

The 5th floor houses the restaurant Beer & Dine, whose focal point is a bar counter with seating capacity for 68 people. Guests can pick their favourite brew from a range of different Störtebeker speciality beers on tap. Bartenders are happy to create luscious beer cocktails according to individual wishes, such as Mai Tais made with Störtebeker’s Bernstein wheat beer, or Atlantik-Ale margaritas. On the culinary side, the Beer & Dine serves up gourmet offerings based on Nordic food culture: the kitchen will present seasonal dishes such as roasted beetroot salad with goat’s cheese, beef fillet with Scotch ale, Savoy cabbage and pretzel dumplings, or scalloped cinnamon pastries served with a buttermilk sorbet. These dishes will, of course, be accompanied by the appropriate speciality beer. In order to pair beer with sophisticated Nordic cuisine in an elegant setting, many staff members have undergone training to become qualified beer sommeliers and beer ambassadors at Störtebeker Braumanufaktur.

The "Taste & Shop" on the 6th floor.

The 6th floor is home to Taste & Shop, a unique combination of bar, shop and tasting lounge. Störtebeker Braumanufaktur has developed a special tasting tray especially for Taste & Shop: three different beers are paired with complementary finger food – the perfect beer and food pairing in a fine dining setting. For beer lovers, Taste & Shop has installed yet another technical innovation: a growler tap, which allows you to enjoy your favourite beer on-tap at home. The very first system of its kind to be in operation in Germany.

As the name suggests, Taste & Shop offers visitors not onlt a brand store selling exclusive Elbphilharmonie gifts and four brand new speciality beers, but also a variety of tasting events, including seminars for beer connoisseurs or wine tasting evenings. The art of pairing international beer creations with the appropriate culinary delights under the expert guidance of a beer sommelier are key features of the tastings.
The highlight is an exclusive gift, which combines the topics beer, the city of Hamburg and the Elbphilharmonie in one extraordinary souvenir.

The Deck & Deli on the 8th floor.

The Deck & Deli in the plaza on the 8th floor allows visitors to enjoy a changing selection of speciality beers against the unbeatable backdrop of Hamburg’s harbour – along with a range of sophisticated snacks – rounding off the pleasures on offer at the Elbphilharmonie. This is the perfect setting for savouring the best after-work beer in Hamburg, or enjoying refreshments during a concert interval.
